Very proud to own this very early Georgian gothic pine barrel backed cabinet. Rare glazed example showing beautiful wear & colour. Carved pine with primitive figural masks, acanthus flora edging. Depictions of a knight with royal crown medallions. The carved royal crown & knight reliefs lead me to believe this is very early Georgian c1714 onwards. Original lock & key. Superb ancient repairs & inserts. Hand forged steel ‘H’ hinges. Waterfall Scalloped internal shelves. Has been reglazed in the 20th century. A very high status piece of furniture at the time. Can be housed in a corner or fitted into a wall. in superb condition. Rock solid & ready for use. Was once used to display fine China. Has been fitted with an internal light which can easily be removed if so inclined. As not in keeping but visually enhancing.
