Description
On offer is this lovely collectible newly framed antique auction poster. It’s in good condition overall – the paper itself shows extensive brown foxed marks all over as well as notable folding / crease lines; there are also multiple old torn areas to all fold creases (please refer to images). The frame is also in good order – a few light scuffs around the edging & the backing tape has also started to peel / come away but as shown all adding to the aged charm & character of the piece. It’s of traditional form, an auction poster from 1880 advertising the sale of seven newly erected cottages in Maryport The auctioneer was T. Boyd. Printed by John Adair of Maryport. It comes presented in a fairly new frame with clear perspex front – within the last ten years – the reverse side has two eyelets / screw loops with hanging thread taped on (not inserted). As well as the tape starting to peel there are a few holes to the tape & one fixing slither has come out. Including the frame it measures 39.5cm (15 & 1/2 inches) by 52cm (20 & 1/2 inches) – outer measurements – & despite the condition issues raised is ready to be collected & enjoyed once again! Please note due to the overall size & fragility of this item a tracked & insured courier service will be used for delivery.
